About Slug Generator
The Slug Generator turns a title or phrase into a clean, URL-friendly slug, such as "my-first-blog-post". Short, readable slugs make links easier to share and help search engines and people understand what a page is about.
How to use it
- Paste or type a title into the input panel.
- Copy the slug from the output panel.
Good to know
- Letters are converted to lowercase and accents are removed, so "Café Déjà Vu" becomes "cafe-deja-vu".
- Anything that is not a letter or number becomes a hyphen, and repeated or leading and trailing hyphens are removed.
- Non-Latin scripts such as Chinese, Japanese or Korean are removed, because only the letters a to z and digits are kept.
Common questions
Should I keep words like "a" and "the" in a slug?
Shorter slugs are easier to read and share, so trimming filler words by hand is common. Keep the words that describe the page.
Can I change a slug after publishing?
You can, but set up a redirect from the old URL so existing links and search rankings are not lost.
