About Social Media Image Size Checker
The Social Media Image Size Checker compares an image with the recommended dimensions and file size for a specific placement, such as an Instagram post, a Facebook cover or a YouTube thumbnail. It catches images that will be cropped, blurry or rejected before you upload them.
How to use it
- Add your image.
- Choose the platform and placement you are preparing it for.
- Click Check.
- Review how the dimensions, aspect ratio and file size compare with the recommendation.
Good to know
- Presets cover Instagram square, portrait and story, Facebook shared posts and covers, X photos and headers, LinkedIn posts, YouTube thumbnails, Pinterest pins and TikTok covers.
- Platforms change their recommendations from time to time, so treat the presets as reliable starting points rather than official rules.
- If the shape is wrong, the Social Media Image Cropper can fix it in one step.
- Files you add are processed in your browser and are never uploaded.
Common questions
Does a larger image than recommended cause problems?
Usually not, as long as the aspect ratio matches. The platform scales it down. File size limits still apply, though.
Why does my upload look blurry?
Images smaller than the recommended size get stretched, and platforms often recompress uploads. Starting at the recommended dimensions gives the sharpest result.
