About Time Duration Calculator
The Time Duration Calculator adds or subtracts two lengths of time written in hours, minutes and seconds. It is useful for totaling work sessions, combining video clip lengths, or working out how much time is left.
How to use it
- Enter the first duration as H:MM or H:MM:SS, for example 2:30:00.
- Choose Add or Subtract.
- Enter the second duration.
- Read the result.
Good to know
- Hours are not limited to 24, so totals such as 37:15:00 are shown as they are rather than being converted into days.
- Subtracting a longer duration from a shorter one gives a negative result.
- To add up many durations, add two, then add the next one to the result.
Common questions
How do I enter 90 minutes?
Write it as 1:30 or 1:30:00.
Can I use it for clock times, like 9:00 to 17:30?
Yes. Subtracting 9:00 from 17:30 gives 08:30:00, the length of time between them, as long as both are on the same day.
