About Add Border to Image

Add Border to Image draws a solid-colored frame around the outside of a picture. Borders help images stand out on busy backgrounds, add a clean finish to screenshots, and give photos a consistent look across a set.

How to use it

  1. Add an image using the file picker or by dragging it in.
  2. Enter the border width in pixels.
  3. Pick a border color.
  4. Click Generate and download the framed image.

Good to know

  • The border is added around the outside of the image, so nothing is covered. The final image is larger by twice the border width in each direction.
  • A thin light-gray border works well for screenshots with white backgrounds on white web pages.
  • PNG, JPEG and WebP images keep their original format. Other formats are saved as PNG.
  • Your image is processed by your browser on your own device. It is never uploaded to a server.

Common questions

Will the border cover the edges of my picture?

No. The canvas is enlarged and the border is drawn around the image, so every original pixel is kept.

Can I add rounded borders?

Add the border here first, then run the result through Round Image Corners for a rounded frame.
