About Sensitive Data Scanner

The Sensitive Data Scanner checks text for personal and secret information before you paste it into an AI chatbot or share it elsewhere. It flags items such as email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers and API keys so you can remove or mask them first.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text you are about to share.
  2. Review each finding and its category.
  3. Remove or replace anything sensitive in your original text before sending it.

Good to know

  • Detected categories: email addresses, phone numbers, IPv4 addresses, US Social Security numbers, possible credit card numbers, OpenAI API keys, AWS access key IDs and bearer tokens.
  • Possible card numbers are checked with the Luhn checksum, which filters out most random digit strings.
  • Pattern matching cannot catch everything, such as names, addresses or confidential business details. Always read the text yourself as well.
  • Your text is processed in your browser. It is not sent to this site or to any AI provider.

Common questions

Does "No obvious sensitive data detected" mean my text is safe?

It means none of the listed patterns matched. Personal details written in ordinary words, such as a name or medical information, are not detected.

Is the text I paste sent anywhere?

No. The scan runs in your browser, which is the point of checking before sharing.
